Release Notes
1. Introduction
1.1 Purpose
This document describes Release 1.0 of the C-Registration System
developed for Wylie College.
The purpose of the Release Notes is to communicate new features and
changes in this release of the C-Registration System. This document
also describes known problems in the Release.
1.2 Scope
This document describes Release 1.0 of the C-Registration System
developed for Wylie College.

About This Release
Release 1.0 of the C-Registration System will enable Wylie College
students to register online for their courses. Students will be able to
access the course information from local college personal computers or
from their home computers via Internet dialup.
This release supports online maintenance of all student and professor
information. The College Registrar will be able to monitor course
registrations throughout the registration period. Billing to students
will be initiated automatically through an interface to the existing
Finance System.

3. Compatible
Products
The C-Registration System includes a client portion that operates
on the client's personal computer. The minimum requirements for the
personal computer are:
- 486 Microprocessor or better
- 32 MB RAM
- 20 MB disk space
- Windows 95/98/NT
- Internet Browser: Netscape 4.0.4 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or
better
- Access to internet dialup
The C-Registration System includes a server portion that operates
on the Wylie College Unix Server. It interfaces with the following
systems:
- Finance System (Release 2.3)
- Course Catalog Database System (Release 2.6)
4. Upgrading
Instructions on installing Release 1.0 are contained in the
Installation Manual and are also available on the web http://www/wyliecollege/it/support.
5. New
Features
The core set of features available in Release 1.0
are:
- Online registration for courses
- Maintenance of all student records
- Maintenance of professor information
- Automatic billing of students
- Professor signup for courses to teach
- Input of student grades
- Access to student report cards
- Remote or local access through personal computers
6. Known Bugs and
Limitations
This section identifies known problems with Release 1.0 and describes
any work-arounds. Please contact our support department if you require
further help.
6.1 Rejected
Password
Passwords are case sensitive.
Solution: If the system rejects your password please enter again
using upper and lower case characters.
6.2 Checking of
Course Pre-requisites
The system will not correctly check that the required course
pre-requisites have been taken. An error message "Course
pre-requisites not satisfied" is displayed and the system prevents the
student from registering for the course.
Solution: If you encounter this problem, please contact the Wylie
College Registrar to assist you with registering.
6.3 Delays in
Accessing Course Information
During periods of peak usage, the system response times may be
affected. In particular, accessing course information from the Course
Catalog could be slow.
Solution: To avoid delays please register for courses following
5:00 p.m.
6.4 Out of State
Students
Address information for out of state students is not retained or
displayed correctly.
Solution: The State or Province of residence can be entered in
address line 4, along with the Country information.
6.5 Incompatibility
with Internet Explorer
Some problems have been encountered with opening multiple frames in
Internet Explorer.
Solution: Close frames not in use. If this does not remove the
problem, please exit the application and
restart. |
